In memoriam Maureen McIntyre

February 25th, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Maureen McIntyre, who taught in the Fine Arts Department for 44 years. Originally from St. John, NB, Maureen lived in Halifax and Montreal. She wrote poetry, did performance and photography, but her first love remained teaching. Maureen also initiated the Dean鈥檚 Choice Awards for the Arts at 海角涩区.

She was passionate about nature, being quite literate in the identification of plants and flowers. Maureen died of cancer after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband Gabriel Sydenham and his daughter Rebecca (Matthew), her brother Louis (Gail Clarke), her niece Kathy (Tim Frigault), her nephew Keith, numerous grand nephews, godsons, first cousins, extended family and friends.

Gabrielle Gayrard appointed Associate Director, Corporate and Legal Affairs

On Nov. 4, Gabrielle Gayrard began her new role as Associate Director, Corporate and Legal Affairs. Gabrielle is the first person to hold this position at 海角涩区. A member of the Bar, she comes to 海角涩区 from the exact same position at C茅gep du Vieux-Montr茅al. She will be working with Megan Ainscow, Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs.

Prior to working in the CEGEP network, Gabrielle practiced civil and family law. A graduate of C茅gep de Thetford, she holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Universit茅 de Sherbrooke.

鈥淚 would like to invite members of the 海角涩区 community to reach out to me if you have legal questions, especially regarding the protection of personal information,鈥 she said. Gabrielle is looking forward to meeting new people and learning about the 海角涩区 way of doing things.

Appointment of Patrick Khoueiry as new Associate Director of FAMA

Patrick Khoueiry began his new job as Associate Director of Facilities Management responsible for auxiliary services on Oct. 15.

At 海角涩区, Patrick is responsible for the following services: Purchasing, the Bookstore, PARC, the Print Shop, Health and Safety, Security, Parking, and the cafeteria.

Patrick comes to 海角涩区 from Abu Dhabi where he was head of procurement and auxiliary services at Sorbonne University. He holds an MBA from Princely International University and a Master鈥檚 in Social Research from Sorbonne University in Paris.

Patrick is excited about 鈥渢he opportunity to contribute to a vibrant learning environment. I am passionate about ensuring that our resources and services enhance the educational experience for both students and faculty. Being part of a community that values innovation and creativity truly energizes me every day.鈥
