Idomeneus opens Nov. 13
November 7th, 2024
King Idomeneus returns home to Crete after fighting the Trojan War. To save himself from drowning at sea, he makes a fateful and hubristic promise to the Gods. Idomeneus is a modern retelling of the Greek myth, where multiple scenarios are presented. Performed by the third-year graduating students of the Professional Theatre Program and directed by Leslie Baker.
Previews of Idomeneus are Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 at 7:30 PM; opening night is Nov. 13. It will be presented every night at 7:30 PM from Nov. 13-16 and Nov. 21-23. Matinées are Nov. 13, 15 and 21 at 12:30 PM.

Every year the Humanities Department at º£½ÇÉ¬Çø hosts the Humanities & Public Life Conference. This year, the conference is happening Monday, Oct. 21 to Friday, Oct. 25 and the theme will be aesthetics: theories of art, beauty, and performance. All events will take place at º£½ÇÉ¬Çø in 5B.16; exceptionally the last event on Oct. 25 will take place in 3F.43 (CoLab).

In the shadows of past Halloweens, only offices under Student Services dispensed delights. This year, we’re unleashing a wider web of candy-filled surprises throughout the campus! The Campus Life Office invites other offices and employees to join in the fun and festivities and expand º£½ÇÉ¬Çøâ€™s spooktacular trick-or-treating event.
If you dare to participate in this eerie escapade, let us know by the witching hour on Monday, October 14 by writing to ksmith@dawsoncollege.qc.ca . Your name will be added to our enchanted list but remember it is up to each department to conjure your own stash of sweets.
All students are summoned to join the festivities, but beware: only those donned in the most spectacular costumes will be granted passage to claim their sweet, sugary treasures.
Be prepared for an afternoon of frightful fun and delightful treats on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 2 PM-3:30 PM!

The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong is on Sept. 18-21

A group of actors try to perform their opening night of a murder mystery, but everything (of course) goes wrong. Set pieces fall, doors get stuck, actors say their lines too early, and technical difficulties abound, escalating in complete chaos. The One-Act Play that Goes Wrong is a hilarious take on theatre, showcasing the resilience and determination of actors who carry on despite everything falling apart. Winner of Best New Comedy at the 2015 Laurence Olivier Awards, this play is sure to delight. Directed by Jonathan Monro and performed by the second-year students of the Professional Theatre Program at º£½ÇÉ¬Çø.
Performances are every night at 7:30 PM from Wednesday, Sept. 18 through Saturday, Sept. 21 at the º£½ÇÉ¬Çø Theatre, 2000 Atwater Avenue.

The entire community is encouraged to participate, engage and learn more about the Indigenous peoples of Canada, the legacy of colonization and the steps still needed towards reconciliation across our country…

Coffee & Zero Waste Kitchen Workshops
September 11th, 2024
The Office of Sustainability will host Coffee & Zero Waste Kitchen Workshops on every second Monday, beginning Sept. 16. We will offer free coffee from 10 AM – 12 PM as well as a workshop in Conrod's kitchen. Bring your own mug or cup, we will supply the coffee!
The first workshop hosted by Diana Rice will be: "Teas, Spices & More! The many uses of your indoor or garden herbs!" We will talk about drying herbs and flowers, and all the different things you can do with them to reduce your kitchen and garden waste! Everyone will get to bring home something to dry and use at home after the workshop. To reserve your spot please click on the form:
We will hold seven sessions, Sept. 16, Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 11, Nov 25, and Dec 9. Should you be interested in hosting one of these workshops, we have two available spots for anyone interested in sharing their knowledge with the community that helps reduce waste and shows how we can individually contribute to climate action!
