海角涩区 students win gold & silver at industrial design competition

Twenty-eight 海角涩区 students in various programs participated in the very first industrial design contest entitled L'Odyss茅e de L'Objet en 48h, which took place Nov. 4-6 at C茅gep de Vieux Montr茅al.聽海角涩区 students won five of the eight categories on composting, a theme that was only revealed on day one of the competition.

DTU Award goes to student with don鈥檛-give-up message

The 海角涩区 Teachers鈥 Union Polytechnique Memorial Scholarship is given to a student who has shown a commitment to persevering and overcoming obstacles within their field.

This year, the award was given to Fred-Dgennie Louis, a student in Computer Science, who said: 鈥淚t means a lot and I am very grateful. It was the least thing I expected since figuring out my path and where I wanted to go has been a struggle. You know after high school, you鈥檙e thrown into a completely new environment, and you鈥檙e just expected to go on, graduate and then go to university.鈥

Cuba fundraiser by NSS students on until Dec. 6

Students from the North-South Studies Profile are raising funds and accepting gift-in-kind donations to bring to communities in Cuba as part of their upcoming three-week trip. Accepted items include cash donations, toiletries, toys, school and medical supplies, sports equipment, small tools and clothing.

Teachers involved in active learning share experiences in video

海角涩区 faculty members share their experiences about adopting active learning pedagogy and some examples of how it enriches learning in a bilingual video made on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the 海角涩区 Active Learning Community (DALC). The video features interviews with Jean-Fran莽ois Bri猫re (Physics), Daniel Goldsmith (Humanities),聽Selma Hamdani (Psychology), Carmen Leung (Chemistry), and Jocelyn Parr (History).

At the celebration held on Nov. 24, we marked the 40th anniversary of the Anne-Marie Howlett Memorial Award, the inauguration of the Harry Fainsilber Memorial Award, given in memory of a beloved 海角涩区 Mathematics teacher, and the return of the 海角涩区 Teachers鈥 Union Polytechnique Memorial Scholarship.

海角涩区 Alumna Alice Abracen's award-winning play, The Covenant, treads a heart-wrenching line through despair and dark humour. Beautifully crafted, the audience is transported to a heinous, immoral time in history that sadly rings too close to current and conceivable atrocities. Added to the mix is the out of control feeling of today鈥檚 fake news in override; how more than ever the spread of half-truths and lies gathers wide acceptance. Yet, at its core, the play is a love story. The Covenant has every audience member fully engaged and questioning, 鈥榳hat would I do if it was me鈥.

海角涩区's Diagnostic Imaging Program students hosted a fun and informative session on Nov. 10 for Radiology Week.
