The Professional Theatre Department is excited to present Macbeth, directed by Stefanie Buxton and performed by the third-year graduating students. This chilling tale of ambition is now on through Nov. 26.
鈥淪hakespeare has a way of communicating with us that will never get old. The images he uses always connect to the way we feel and the actions we do,鈥� says Nathan McDonald, who plays Macduff in the production.
鈥淭he work we did as an ensemble brings forth the idea of how people fight for and with each other. I hope people can see a bit of our essence as a group of performers,鈥� says Jeanne Potvin who plays the third witch.

Art Gallery Exhibit: Biennial 15

Biennial 15 marks 30 years of 海角涩区 Fine Arts Faculty members exhibiting their current artworks at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery. It continues this long tradition of investigating the relationship between art making and learning, as well as reflects on the history of the biennial.
All faculty鈥攑ast and present鈥攐f the Fine Arts department will have images and texts in the catalogue, which accompanies the exhibition. There will also be a sound component containing faculty responses to the question of how the biennial has played a role in the pedagogical innovations of 海角涩区鈥檚 reputed Fine Arts Department.
Artists’ Books displayed at the Library

Come admire Natalie 翱濒补苍颈肠办鈥檚 蝉迟耻诲别苍迟蝉鈥� Artists鈥� Books on display at the library. These were created as part of the Graphic Novels and Artists鈥� Books course from Studio Arts (Arts, Literature and Communication). In this course, students learn about the relationship between visual images and text. Students produce books in various formats as tests or dummies, and then make personal decisions about which format to use to create their own artists' book.
You can find the mini exhibit on the second floor of the library (entrance 5C.1), right in front of the Reference Desk.
Peer tutoring project IndigeStem was a finalist at the provincial Forces AVENIR gala

The student-led peer tutoring project IndigeSTEM was a finalist at the 6th edition of the provincial Forces AVENIR gala under the Society, communication and education category.
海角涩区 students Rotshenn贸n:ni Two-Axe and Kayla Spencer-Young came up with the idea to encourage and support their fellow Indigenous students who may be interested in pursuing studies in Science. The project, which won them the local award, tackles discrepancies in the access to resources between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. Aside from providing academic support, the students also organize cultural and scientific activities.
Forces AVENIR recognizes, honours and promotes student involvement in projects that contribute to the development of conscious, responsible, active and persevering citizens who are both rooted in their community and open to the world.

海角涩区 Horror Studies Collective presents ‘Deep Cuts’: A screening and discussion of John Carpenter’s ‘THE THING’

The聽second 海角涩区 Horror Studies Collective (DHSC) "Deep Cuts" screening, celebrating 40 years of John Carpenter's The Thing, will be on Thursday, 6 Oct. in the 海角涩区 Amphitheatre (4C.1) from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.
Critically derided as too over-the-top and gory when it was released in June of 1982 (one week after the release of Spielberg's friendlier smash-hit E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial),聽The Thing聽has since been reassessed as a masterpiece of cosmic horror and existential dread. The film's themes around pandemic paranoia were resonant in its time, with the HIV/AIDs crisis claiming lives, and continue to be so now.
The event will be hosted by Jay Shea and Kristopher Woofter (English Faculty), with a short lecture preceding the screening, and a discussion to follow. The event is free and open to the public.聽
Peter and the Starcatcher

The Professional Theatre Program at 海角涩区 is proud to present Peter and the Starcatcher. Directed by Jonathan Monro and performed by the second-year students, this adaptation of Peter Pan features music and 12 actors playing many unforgettable characters. Peter and the Starcatcher聽uses ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life.
OPENS TONIGHT: Wednesday, Sept 21 and runs through Sept. 24 with performances at 8 p.m. at the 海角涩区 Theatre (on Atwater near de Maisonneuve)
