Two fundraising professionals join Foundation Board

Fundraising consultant Elaine Lalonde (mother of North-South Studies alumna) and Claudia Mastrocola (Class of 2013, Community, Recreation and Leadership Training) joined the Board of Directors of the 海角涩区 Foundation at the Nov. 23 meeting.
The Foundation has bolstered its in-house fundraising expertise by welcoming these two new board members.
Elaine brings over 30 years of experience in fundraising to the Foundation. After several fundraising roles in the nonprofit sector, she is now a Senior Consultant with Global Philanthropic Canada Inc.
Claudia has seven years of experience managing fundraising events. She works as an event manager with the Italian-Canadian Community Foundation.
Three 海角涩区 students featured as inspiring young Canadians

海角涩区 students Kahenientha Cross and John Nathaniel Gertler and 海角涩区 graduate Ella Noel were featured in a CBC news report in the lead up to The Nature of Things documentary, Rebellion. Scenes of students preparing for the climate march were filmed at 海角涩区 last year.

The 60th聽anniversary season premiere of The Nature of Things hosted by David Suzuki on Nov. 6 features an action-filled documentary that captures the beginnings of a movement that is changing the world.
Rebellion聽brings viewers to the front lines of the climate rebellion, including 海角涩区 on Sept. 26, 2019, the day before the historic climate march in Montreal with Greta Thunberg and 500,000 peaceful protesters.

Lizanne Murphy returns to 海角涩区!

Lizanne Murphy is back at 海角涩区 as an assistant coach for the Division 1 Women's Basketball Team.
"海角涩区 felt like home," she said. "It's such a great feeling to be back."
Lizanne was part of the first team recruited by Head Coach Trevor Williams and graduated from Health Science in 2003. She went on to play professionally, represented Canada at the Olympics and won a gold medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games.
Lizanne believes there are many young players on 海角涩区's team who could follow in her footsteps and she looks forward to sharing her knowledge with them.
The team is currently meeting online and training at home while they look forward to practicing and playing games again in January.
Resistance and Resilience opens Oct. 8

Following the success of聽Sk茅nn:en: Peace and Decolonization聽(2017) and聽Queer and Peace聽(2018), Diana Rice (Programming Coordinator, Peace Centre) prophetically conceived of a project that would provide a space for those voices traditionally unheard and often ignored: Legacy and racialized immigrant communities. Once again collaborating with Rhonda Meier of the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery, the work began in 2018 to create a platform for artists to display their experiences of racism and systemic oppression.

Congrats to the Class of 2020!

Another 2,600 graduates joined the big family of 海角涩区 alumni over the summer.
In the coming weeks, they will all receive a special grad package in the mail. The College made a special Virtual Commencement Speech video addressed to the Class of 2020 and held an intimate Awards Ceremony Aug. 12.

Next Tuesday, June 16 at 6 p.m., Andrew Katz (English Department) will be聽virtually launching his second picture book, I JUST WANT TO BE SUPER! / JE SUIS SUPER NINO!聽聽illustrated by 海角涩区 Illustration graduate Tony Luzano (2014).The story is about a young kid with TONS of energy.
