Indigenous Perspectives: Learning from the Past, Shaping the Future

Explore Indigenous history, culture, and perspectives through interactive talks, documentaries, and discussions. These sessions highlight important stories—from the Iroquois Great Law of Peace and early democracy, to truth and reconciliation from a Kahnawake Mohawk perspective, and a look at the Americas before Columbus.

1. The Iroquois Great Law of Peace
Learn how five warring nations became allies and developed the first true democracy in human history.

2. Truth and Reconciliation from a Kahnawake Mohawk Perspective

Orange Shirt Day Book Display in the Library

Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the impacts of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples.

Selections include fiction, reports, monographs, graphic novels, and memoirs on the topic of residential schools in Canada. Access the library’s for fiction and non-fiction book suggestions. Open Harvest

Grocery prices continue to rise but eating fresh and healthy doesn’t have to break the bank. Thanks to the º£½ÇÉ¬Çø Foundation, students and employees now have access to Open Harvest: a FREE produce market on campus.

Bring a tote bag and pick up FREE fruits and vegetables in the Lower Atrium (in front of the metro tunnel)

Every other Wednesday (started Sept. 10) from 12 PM until supplies last

The º£½ÇÉ¬Çø Foundation, located in Room 3H.01, funds this initiative in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability to make fresh food more accessible for the º£½ÇÉ¬Çø community.

Snack Centre

The Snack Centre is available to all students registered at º£½ÇÉ¬Çø and is supported solely by the Generations Foundation.

The centre offers cookies, granola bars, fruit snacks, and more for students who may have forgotten their lunch or cannot afford a meal that day. Snacks are delivered monthly by the Generations Foundation. To ensure there is enough for everyone, students are asked to take no more than 2 items per day.

Scholarship Alert: Loran Award Applications Now Open

$100,000+ in support, mentorship, and opportunity

The Loran Award offers a four-year leadership-enrichment program, financial support for undergrad, diverse opportunities for experiential learning, and a long-term supportive community of peers and mentors—people who will inspire and motivate you in your pursuit to make a difference.

Loran looks beyond grades and gets to know each applicant through an in-depth selection process that is a personal growth experience in itself.

Offered in partnership with , and renewable for up to four years, the Loran Award is valued at more than $100,000 over four years of undergraduate study.

Eligibility:

  • Be in your last year of CEGEP before entering university studies.
  • Present an R score equal to or higher than 29.
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Be born between January 1, 2004 and September 1, 2010.

For those entering university in 2026, the deadline for submission of all applications is October 16, 2025 (before noon Eastern Time).

DSU Health & Dental Plan

Opt-Out Information for Fall 2025

The º£½ÇÉ¬Çø Student Union (DSU) Health & Dental Plan provides essential coverage for services not included under RAMQ (Quebec's provincial healthcare plan) or private insurance, such as ambulance fees, dental care, and vision services.

Automatic Enrollment
All full-time and part-time students who are members of the DSU are automatically enrolled in the DSU Health & Dental Plan. The Plan fee is included in tuition and must be paid by the College’s fee payment deadline.

Opt-Out Period
If you have comparable health and dental coverage and wish to opt out of the DSU Plan, the Fall Opt-Out Period is:

  • August 22 – October 1

How to Opt Out
To opt out, visit the . You will need your Studentcare ID and password (PIN), which are provided at the start of the academic year.

Please Note:

  • The opt-out process must be completed each year that you are assessed for the Health & Dental Plan fee.
  • You are responsible for paying all college fees within the prescribed deadlines.
  • After your opt-out is processed, a refund for the Plan fees will be issued shortly after the end of the Change-of-Coverage & Opt-Out Period.
